Fred Galang is a true artistic unicorn with 25 years of experience educating the masses on the magic of creativity through the visual arts. As a multidisciplinary artist, Fred is well-versed in conceptual art, painting, drawing, sculpture, digital media, video, photography, design, illustration and branding.
And when he’s not busy creating works of art, you might find him strolling down to the convenience store for a quick snack or enjoying the delightful scent of a newly lit match or freshly printed book.

Artist Statement
The emerging dialogue juxtaposing relatively disparate elements from popular iconography (both historical and contemporary) is central to my work. The concepts involved in each artwork are drawn from various sources, ranging from military textbooks and art history to ethnographic journals and how-to-do manuals. Often painted on unconventional grounds, my subject matter frequently explores the elements of extrapolation and appropriation to understand our sources of socio-cultural nourishment. More importantly, my paintings and drawings simultaneously delve into the realm of the “popular” to explore its underlying disposition towards anything unique, sensitive, and sincere.
Although my work reflects a fascination with the ubiquitous characteristics of popular imagery, I am not interested in focusing on or criticizing its “mass appeal.” Instead, I use the processes mentioned above to re-examine its significance as a conditioning element within our contemporary social milieu.
