My ongoing explorations have led me to delve into the historical records of western encounters with aboriginal tribes in the Philippines, as documented in ethnographic manuals. As part of a series, I began painting the “found” figures on wallpaper swatches to draw parallel connections between diverse cultures and consumable items. Through this creative process, I aim to explore the intricacies of cultural exchange and its impact on material culture while illuminating the interplay between global and local contexts.
